Who is responsible

Budget Your Move is a personal project run by one person in Ireland, and is the data controller for everything described here. For anything about your data, including the requests below, write to privacy@budgetyourmove.com. Every message is read by a human, and we aim to reply within a few days and always within one month.

Your plans stay in your browser

Your budgets, the places you are considering, your checklist and your settings are saved in your own browser, using a feature called local storage. They are not sent to us and we cannot see them.

That also means they live on that one device, in that one browser. Clearing your browsing data deletes them, and nothing we hold can bring them back. Private browsing may discard them when you close the window. The planner says so on screen.

Use Budget settings → Download Excel (.xlsx) to keep a copy of your figures somewhere safer. The file is built inside your browser and saved straight to your device — it is not uploaded to us or to any export service. Where it goes next, and who sees it, is entirely up to you. It is a snapshot, and it cannot be loaded back into the planner.

No accounts

There is no sign-in and no cloud storage. The planner asks our own server once whether accounts are available, so it knows not to offer a button that would not work; that request carries none of your figures. We will rewrite this page before anything changes — before any sign-in exists and before a single email address is stored.

Delivering the website

Cloudflare hosts the site. To serve the pages and keep the service up, it handles ordinary technical request information: IP addresses, which page was asked for, when, and which browser asked. This is separate from anything you type into the planner, which never reaches them either.

Our lawful basis for that technical processing is our legitimate interest in running and protecting the service (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Cloudflare's network spans several countries, some outside the European Economic Area; its data processing addendum covers those transfers using the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

Cloudflare is the only company involved. Nobody else processes anything on our behalf.

Fonts, cookies and tracking

Every font and image is served from this website. The pages make no third-party request at all — no Google Fonts, no CDN, no embedded anything. So no other company learns that you visited, or sees your IP address.

There is no cookie banner because there are no cookies to consent to. We set none. Cloudflare may set an essential one if it ever needs to run a security check, which it describes in its cookie documentation. Local storage is not a cookie and never leaves your device.

No advertising, no advertisers, no analytics, no marketing pixels, no profiling and no automated decisions about you. The numbers the planner shows are arithmetic on figures you typed, for your own use.

If you email us

If you write to us, your message and your email address are processed so we can reply, and kept only as long as that takes. Please don't send your budget, bank details or anything else sensitive unless your question genuinely needs it.

Your rights

Most of what you might want is already in your hands, because your data is on your device rather than ours. You can edit or delete any budget in the planner, export one to Excel at any time, and clear the site's data in your browser to remove the lot. We cannot recover it afterwards, because we never had a copy.

For anything we do hold — which, unless you have emailed us, is Cloudflare's technical logs — you may ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability, and you may object to processing based on legitimate interests. Write to privacy@budgetyourmove.com. These rights have conditions, and they cannot reach data stored only on your own device, because we have no way in.

You may also complain to a data protection authority. Ours is Ireland's Data Protection Commission, and you may instead go to the authority where you live or work, or where the problem happened. We would rather you told us first so we can put it right.

Children

The planner is meant for adults arranging a move. It is not aimed at children, and since there are no accounts, we hold nothing about anyone.

Keeping it safe

The site is served only over an encrypted connection. There is not much to protect, because the thing worth protecting — your budget — is never sent to us in the first place. If something did go wrong in a way that put you at risk, we would tell you, and the regulator, as the law requires.

Changes

The date at the top changes whenever this page does. Accounts, analytics or advertising would each need this page rewritten first, and announced rather than slipped in. We will not quietly start doing something this page says we do not do.
